Is America in Bible Prophecy?

While the default version is the KJV, several modern versions of the Bible, including the NIV, NASB, NLT, among others, are also available. By having this link I am not promoting, nor do I condone, the use of these versions. In my humble opinion, you should use the KJV only.

I do not believe the United States of America is a direct subject of Bible prophecy. The following are thoughts on this subject:

1. Though America has a unique history as a bastion of religious liberty, a missionary center, and a help to Israel, and though it has enjoyed great blessings of God in this church age, in national character it is only another pagan nation. There are no Christian nations described in the New Testament or in Bible prophecy. There are only three groupings of people: Israel, the Gentiles, and the church (1 Corinthians 10:32).

2. In the prophecies of Daniel only four worldwide kingdoms are described: Babylon, Greece, Medo-Persia, and Rome. The prophecy of Daniel 2 describes the Roman Empire as having two facets: the old Empire (the legs of iron) and the revived Empire that will be associated with the Antichrist at the end of the age (the feet of clay mixed with iron).

3. Since there is no fifth kingdom, it is probable that America is viewed by God simply as an extension of the Roman Empire. Rome had extended its empire to England before the time of Christ.

4. America will doubtless be included in the end times Babylon religious and economic system that will be destroyed during the Tribulation (Revelation 18). America is intimately associated with the European Union though not actually a part of it.
